Colombo Countdown 2013
Colombo Countdown 2013 unveiled its countdown clock last week at
Nelum Pokuna stadium.
The clock will count down to December 31 midnight where thousands are
expected to join the final countdown at Nelum Pokuna.
"We want Colombo to enjoy a new experience in New Year's eve
celebrations in street carnival style," the event organiser from Woft
(Pvt) Ltd, Dhanushka Pinto said.
This will be a regular and annul feature to give the public a
meaningful countdown of time to welcome the new year in good spirit. The
large electronic clock displaying the time running up to December 31
midnight is a common site in many Western countries and now will also be
so in Sri Lanka, he said.
There will be few a replicas of the countdown clock in and around
Colombo and the celebrations will be held at Nelum Pokuna.
The countdown will coincide with a massive street carnival including
a variety of entertainment lined up for the entire family.
"We have entertainment in store for every member of the family from
the youngest to the oldest and something to keep the young adults on
their feet. The new year will be celebrated in grand style and will be a
memorable experience to all visiting the venue," he said.
The Colombo Countdown 2013 offers a host of exciting activities in
its line- up to 2013 and its website and facebook page will be updated
regularly to inform the public of the new developments, Pinto said.
