Nightmares of imprisonment are best forgotten. But wonderful realities of release and liberation are worth being reminisced and savoured. And so it was with the Boyagoda couple, Capt. Ajith and wife Chandani, who’s joyous moment of reunion was captured for posterity and displayed for all to rejoice, at the ongoing Dawn of Hope Exhibition at the Colombo Art Gallery. Capt. Boyagoda, arrested by the LTTE in September 1994 was imprisoned for eight years, before the MoU between the government and the LTTE paved the way for his release. Here the Boyagoda couple gaze at a photograph of their reunion, titled - Reunion of Hearts Companions, perhaps marvelling at the miracle that made it possible for them to be together again.  

Medical specialists 'abscond' in UK, Australia : Guarantors to be penalised

The Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Welfare will come down hard on those who have signed as 'guarantors' for doctors who have not returned to Sri Lanka after completing their post-graduate qualifications abroad, and will hold them financially responsible, for the cost incurred in sending these doctors overseas.

PM, Vajpayee discuss Palk Straits bridge

An agreement of co-operation in Information and Communication Technologies and services was signed between Sri Lanka and India when the Prime Ministers of the two countries met for bilateral discussions and pressing issues concerning the peace process over lunch in Delhi yesterday.
