Mag city, sales agent for Chevrolet cars

General Motors, the world's largest auto maker appointed Mag City (Pvt) Ltd., as the sales agent for Chevrolet cars in Sri Lanka Chevrolet is General Motor's No. 1 selling brand worldwide.

Founded in 1908 General Motors (GM) has a workforce of 284,000 people all over the world with manufacturing plants in 33 countries.

In 2006, 9.1 million GM cars and trucks were sold globally under the brands of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GM Denwoo, Holden, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn, and Vauxhall.

Assistant General Manager Mag City Motor Co (Pvt) Ltd., K.P. Sudhaakaran said that Chevrolet Optra- 1600cc, Cbery SRV 1600cc (Sports/hatchback) Aveo Sedan 1400cc and Aveo UV-A (1200 cc) are on display in their Chevrolet showroom at T.B.Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10.

Chevrolet Spark 1000 cc and Chevrolet Tavera 2400 cc - Diesel Jeep will arrive in Sri Lanka next month.

Assistant Manager Sales Promotions Janaka Pitigala said that the Chevrolet cars were designed by Gingiaro design studio in Italy. The engine is fitted with fuel efficient technologies such as Dotte (Dual overhead cam shaft) and BGIS, (Variable Geometry Intake System).

The other features are cool box, sun roof and adjustable rear seat.


Grameen Automobiles introduces Ceygra Try car

Ceylinco Grameen Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd introduced the Ceygra Try car to the local market recently.

Ceygra Try Car is powered by a water cooled four stroke 200 CC engine.

The marketing Director Ceylinco Grameen Automobiles Chamara Perera said that the body of the Ceygra Try car is made of metal while most of the other try car bodies are made of fibre. Hydraulic brakes, sunroof, five doors and 28 Km per litre of petrol are the other attractive features of Ceygra Try car, he said.

A warranty period of six months, or 5000 kilometres is also offered by Grameen Auto.

Ceylinco Grameen Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd manufactures five-hundred motor-cycles per month at their Panadura and Kahatuduwa assembling plants to meet the increasing demand for Ceygra motor-cycles.

Ceygra Motor-cycles were introduced to the local market two years ago. It has earned a good reputation for its timing change system engine which is longlasting and the latest defect free system.

A sales dealer network of 67 and 47 service dealers islandwide have been appointed to cater to the needs of Ceygra customers. The brand new Ceygra motor-cycle buyers are entitled to a warranty period of two years or twenty thousand kilometres.

The Marketing Director said that within one and a half years after the Ceygra was introduced to the Sri Lankan market it reached fifth place in the motor-cycle market indicating the ever increasing customer confidence in it.

The Ceygra manufacturing motor-cycle plant in China which uses Japanese technology for motor-cycles, exports its products to European and USA markets. Ceylinco Grameen Automobiles (Pvt) Ltd has been appointed as the sole agent in Sri Lanka.

According to the Marketing Director two showrooms in Kurunegala and Puttalam in addition to the main showroom at Stanley Tillekeratne Mawatha, Nugegoda have been opened for the convenience of customers. More showrooms will be opened in leading towns soon.
