Tigers blast transformers

LTTE terrorists, using explosive devices, blasted two power transformers in Kalmunai yesterday.

Defence sources said administration functions and treatment including urgent surgeries at Marudamunai hospital came to a standstill as a result. Fuel supply in the area too was paralysed by the explosion which caused a great inconvenience to the public.

The Ceylon Electricity Board said action had been taken to restore power as soon as possible.
