Govt finding a lasting solution to the national problem - P.M.
By Deepal Warnakulasuriya
The government is in the process of finding a final solution to the
country's major problem and the APRC which was set up for the purpose is
functioning well to reach the expected targets, said Prime Minister
Ratnasiri Wickremenayaka in an interview with the Sunday Observer
yesterday.
The Prime Minister said that the APRC was summoned to find a lasting
solution to the national problem and today almost all the parties have
presented their proposals putting the process on the right track. "After
perusing all proposals, we will be able to arrive at a consensus.
Though we were unable to achieve 100 per cent agreement, that
consensus will inspire us to go for an answer to the national question,"
the Prime Minister said.
He also added that once the consensus is reached, it has national
validity and acceptance as it is no longer a one party or government
matter. "Here the entire Parliament representing parties have
contributed directly on achieving the consensus," Wickremenayaka added.
