Education draws out best/worst in man

Fear stalks the human mind. Surrounded by an economic system giving rise to stiff competition intense insecurity sets in which finally reduces man into below bestial state. Arising from all this are poor quality genes that keep multiplying generations of ill-bred humans, finally culminating in a degraded social whole. That is as far as the urban, half educated middle class goes.

Observable indeed be it on the street, bus, shop or even office is the high degree tendency into being averse at the sight of two people seen talking-the aversion itself arising out of a feeling of being threatened. Eavesdropping is the end result. This may take on two different forms. One is to pretend being busy with a book, computer, newspaper or whatever and the other to look direct at the communicating parties in an attempt to lip read while the eavesdropping woman assumes these parties are not mindful of her.

Whatever the form, eavesdropping today has become a norm. Zoom Lens with extra observational powers in many such instances had to even resort to partial mouth covering which observably invited much wrath what with the person concerned I mean the eavesdropper attempting to be computer oriented-the irony being, she, not even in the least being meat for conversation. That she felt embarrassed itself was a feather in writer's cap and exactly what was wanted of her.

In the ultimate conclusion following analysis of this very lowly, nauseating yet pathetic behaviour, one begins to realize that such persons always wanting to listen to what others talk are those that suffer tremendous shortcomings and moral inadequacies. The guilt they are forced to live with in having resorted to lowly tactics, they themselves feel ashamed of yet not to their liking are the shortfalls becoming subjects of discussion.

The hilarious side to the story is one in this dullard category publicly expressing far too many times, "Oh! all these people are afraid of me" which brought in fits of laughter to those that had tuned in - a sure case for psychiatric treatment!!

She is also one of those as is always the case in her fellowship wanting to keep others under her control.

These mental states multiplying by the hour if not properly treated could lead society into a danger state.

These then are the narrow, mediocre, very ordinary type that hang around corridors, preferably, ill-lit areas and leaning against walls would, like carrion crows relishing some carcass engage in frivolous tete-tete or as common parlance would have it 'gossip' - the kind arising out of envy.

One must necessarily be sympathetic towards this fraternity as they've encountered numerous and endless brickbats in their marital hell-holes as well. Adding to all this rising rates of frustration are externalities such as stiff competition followed by insecurity, jealousy, envy and so on pressurising these dimwits and dopes to the hilt.

Some such elements in an attempt into extended crudeness would even later on ask one of the communicating partners, "Here, what did she tell you men?" Bad breeding no doubt yet the irony lies here - she herself would refer to blissful stuff such as family background. Pah! Joke of the century!!

My father explaining all about education would often refer to the Latin word Ex-duco meaning to draw out.

Elaborating on this he would say how education brought out the best or worst in man. As example, I distinctly remember him say, "Education makes a crook become a refined crook and a cultured man an enlightened one."

This perhaps is applicable not only to those with the kind of lowly behavioral characteristic around whom this article centres but would unreservedly include all others that suffer moral dislodge.

Just only a smattering of English alone wouldn't suffice which smattering these folk believe is a passport to virtue. They even posit that they are a cut above the Sinhala speaking electorate.

Here's where they've got their wires crossed.

The fault lies with bad genes and not in some language. Come to think of it elegant behaviour today is certainly a rarity.
