Top probe over random shooting of two Army personnel

A top level investigation has been launched following the random
shooting of two army personnel last Friday at Maligawatte. The shooting
occurred when two persons travelling in a three wheeler stopped their
vehicle near the Jumma Mosque Road at Maligawatte and alighted from it
around 2.30 p.m.
According to police some people who had gathered near a cross road
had opened fire injuring the two army personnel critically.
Police sources told the 'Sunday Observer' that the two Army personnel
critically injured in the shooting have been identified as army
intelligence personnel in civvies. The two men have been admitted to
hospital.
According to the Maligawatte police the three wheeler was followed by
another three wheeler. The shooting took place when both vehicles
stopped near Mosque Road. Maligawatte police are investigating whether
the shooting was premeditated or due to a mistaken identity. OIC
