MTI Consulting provides strategic solutions

There is a global demand for consultancy services with business organisations seeing the importance of being objective, critical and making changes to enhance profits and achieve corporate success, said Regional Analyst Country Representative MTI Consulting, Sahan Kulatunga.

Consultancy services are vital today for organisations since many institutions are confined to their daily business activities and do not make a critical analysis of the organisation, take into consideration the competitors, the shortcomings and the customer requirements.

"Research and market surveys are essential for the stability of organisations. Branding, corporate financing, good governance and venture management are some of the key factors that businesses need to look into if they are to enhance profits and achieve corporate goals", Kulatunga said.

Specialised consultancy solutions help organisations to adopt good business practices, improve corporate governance and avoid getting into major legal tangles that may even result in the closure of businesses.

Good human resource management is an indispensable factor for organisations if they are to progress. No organisation could survive if the welfare of the employees is not looked into properly and their problems are not addressed. Institutions have failed due to poor human resource management", he said.

Submitting audit reports on the position of the company and what steps need to be taken are not specialised services. Providing solutions on niche areas called for a proactive role by the service provider who enter into a discussion with management on implementing strategies and evaluates the progress.

Private-public partnerships are necessary to achieve better results. The partnership established through the new Tourism Act will help tourism to develop fast. Private-public partnerships will be a key factor for infrastructure development and social welfare improvement.

MTI which has been providing core-consultancy services for businesses, marketing, planning, re-structuring and market entry for over 10 years has moved into providing specialised solutions on branding, corporate finance, venture management, legal and governance, human resource management, supply chain and technology.

"Our objective is to help organisations to implement strategies achieve higher profits", he said.

MTI Consulting provided strategic solutions on market entry to Aitken Spence which was planning to set up hotels in India and the Hayleys Group which was looking at developing the coir sector in India. Launched in 1997 as a Baharain-Sri Lanka based company MTI operates in eight countries and has undertaken 275 client-specified projects.

CEO of MTI Hilmy Cader plans to set up offices to develop marketing in the region.
