Stepping forward to facilitate the timely requirement of backup offices, the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology has undertaken to provide business continuity services to several leading organisations in the country, among which, the most recent has been Amba Research (Pvt) Ltd.

Amba Research is a specialist provider of investment research and analysis support services for investment managers, investment banks and independent research and analysis firms.

It operates across all major financial asset classes, including equities, credit, fixed income, commodities, currencies and derivatives. Amba services reach clients in all major financial hubs from its offices in Colombo, Bangalore, San Jos, (Costa Rica), New York, London and Singapore.

Under the latest agreement, staff of Amba Research (Pvt) Ltd., will operate from the SLIIT Malabe disaster recovery facility, in case of emergency. SLIIT provides infrastructure for business operations of the company, until their main set up is restored to normalcy. SLIIT maintains the facility with high-end computers, software, printers, networking infrastructure with high speed internet connectivity and all office facilities.

The facility which will be kept on standby under normal conditions, is expected to receive the company staff for business resumption within three hours following a disaster.

Managing Director and CEO of SLIIT, Prof. Lalith Gamage said that SLIIT will soon promote business continuity services for Indian companies. "This is a good business opportunity for Sri Lanka," he said.

SLIIT also provides disaster recovery facilities for companies such as Industrial and Financial Systems of Sweden.
