A saga of a woman crossed by fate

Nisala Gira (Silent Honour) is a moving portrait of a woman (Radha... an Asian high society politician's wife). Her life changed by one swift... unexpected stroke of fate... the tragic death of her only child (Arjuna who would have been a world famous concert pianist) by the underworld drug kings... she looses all that she holds dear... torn by grief in a hidden web of drugs.

We see her painful exhilarating journey... which gives a message to the world... She becomes a pawn in an international drug cartel... betrayed by her own innocence imprison framed by ruthless close family friend Cynthia Nelson, a woman of independence and success, an ambiguity of character... a socialite who has connection with the international Mafia Gang.

Her only daughter Nicola Nelson, beautiful... sensuous rich and famous young woman... an ecstasy addict dealer. Marko Richards Casanova drug peddler, he is handsome... persuasive and daring, destroys everything that Radha values in life... Gets closer to Radha.

Radha has to kill her past before she transcends the obstacles in her inner transformation of the Mythic Journey... and deal with her incorruptible politician husband (Saliya) and his vendetta against the underworld drug kings. A mother-in-law who tries to understand her daughter-in-law's depression and drug habit.... suffers in silence.

Abandoned by the man she loves, Radha gives birth to her daughter Devindi (born a little criminal without a crime) in Prison. She has to rebuild her life as she believes in Rebirth.

Radha has a close friendship with Nanditha in Prison... a young woman who has beauty to match her earthy manner... known in prison as Pundit (helps her to face life). She was used by her drug addict father... pawned her to a drug ring as an international drug peddler at a very young age... and is facing the death rope.

Radha... hurt and broken but surviving with ingenuity emerges her ordeal... determined to start a life for her little girl turns away from the past to a new world... Radha walks towards a new beginning she has to bury the ghost of her past... She has to rebuild her own shattered life... Devindi sees the new world, for the first time she is scared...

Director/Screenplay

Tanuj Anawaratne awarded as Best Director and Best Scriptwriter of Youth Drama Festival in 1994 and 1997. Director of Mangalam tele-film in 2001. Assistant Director of two controversial feature films directed by Asoka Handagama Flying with One Wing (2002) and Letter of Fire (2006). Nisala Gira is his first feature film.

Executive Producer / Story / Screenplay Yolanda Weerasinghe

An Australian citizen for the past 32 years, Yolanda is a rapacious story and script writer and has given opportunities to Sri Lankan and Indian Films helping them being aired in both Australia and Malaysia. She has also offered her assistance to many charitable organisations and Sri Lankan communities abroad in order to support the Sri Lanka entertainment and film industry.

She has also in partnership with Taj Entertainment Australia - screened Indian feature films in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. In 2003 she produced Ran Mahesi, a tele film which won the Music Award at the Sumathi Tele Awards in 2003. Nisala Gira is her first screenplay.

Producer Nita Fernando

Nita Fernando is an international and national award winning actress. She entered film industry in 1965 with her first film Landaka Mahima. This was followed by more than 35 feature films. A special mention was given to Nita at the Tashkent Film Festival for her performance in Lasanda (1974) directed by K. A. W. Perera.

She won the Best Actress award in 1976 at the OCIC Cinema Salutation Ceremony for her role in Duhulu Malak. Also she was awarded as the Best Actress in Singapore International Film Festival in 1998 for her role in Pavuru Walalu (Walls Within) directed by Prasanna Vithanage and produced by herself.
