Lt. Cdr. Premaratna sacrificed his life in defence of the nation
The first death anniversary of Lt. Commander D. D. N. M. Premaratna
of the Sri Lanka Navy who sacrificed his life in defence of the nation
falls on October 20.
In his memory a pirith preaching on 20th night and an almsgiving to
Maha Sangha on the following morning will be held at his residence
Gabbala, Kotuwella, Rambukkana, Tel - 0602350061.
He died on October 16 last year when a suicide bomber attacked a Navy
Convoy at Digampathana.
A separate commemorative ceremony has been organised by the members
of the Sir John Kotalawela Defence Academy 19th intake officers batch of
Navy.
Born on April 20 1978 he entered the Defence Academy as a Cadet
Officer on August 5, 2002 and was appointed as a sub-lieutenant the next
year. He was promoted to Navy Lieutenant on February 5, 2006 and has
been trained with the Indian Navy. |
