Police raids to check crime during New Year
Police will carry out raids on illicit liquor
booths and gambling dens to prevent violent crimes being committed
by those under the influence of liquor on account of the forthcoming
Sinhala and the Tamil New Year, Police Media Spokesman SP Ajith

Spokesman SP Ajith Rohana. But the number of road accidents in the
country as a whole has increased at an alarming rate, with 5 - 7
deaths being reported a day due to vehicle collisions. This is a
serious issue; the statistics warn of an impending danger.
