Jungle fowl, the national emblem of Sri Lanka
The International Council for Bird Preservation
(ICBP) at its 14th conference, held in Tokyo in June 1960
unanimously passed a resolution selecting the Jungle Cock (an
endemic species) as the emblem of the Ceylon branch.
