A project to carpet
the Kumbalgama-Kalapuhena Road in the Devinuwara area was
launched with the participation of Youth Affairs and Skills
Development Minister, Dullas Alahapperuma recently. Here the

The awarding of
certificates to 300 pre-school teachers trained by the
Gamini Dissanayake Foundation of Nuwara Eliya was held at
the CineCita Hall, Nuwara Eliya recently. Here the chief

The Lake House Hindu
Association (LHHA) released its maiden book Pancha Purana
Thothira Thirattu at the Colombo Thamil Sangam, Wellawatte

Commander of the Sri
Lanka Navy Vice Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake opened the
Naval Regional Security Centre at Vakarai and Naval
deployments at Batticaloa and Lankapatuna recently. The new
centres have been set up for coastal and civilian
protection. He also opened the Junior Sailors Married
Quarters complex at the SLN Dockyard in Trincomalee,
constructed at a cost of Rs. 40.1 million comprising 18
residential units.
The Army Tattoo was
held in Jaffna under the patronage of Army Commander Lt.
Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya. Nearly 25,000 people from all parts
of the Jaffna peninsula turned up to witness the spectacular
