The Immigration and Emigration Department will implement a home
delivery service within the Colombo city soon.
Immigration and Emigration Department Controller General Chulananda
Perera said that the objective of the ‘Home delivery’ is to offer a
people-friendly service.
“We implemented the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) from
January this year to issue visas for short stay visitors online. MF
Yamuna Chandratilleka passed away
Yamuna Chandratilleka (49), wife of Rasantha Chandratilleka,
Production Manager, Rivira Media Corporation (Pvt) Ltd. and former
Production Manager, Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. passed away
last afternoon after a brief illness.
Her remains will lie at their residence, No. 95, Dharmapala Mawatha,
Colombo 7.
Funeral arrangements will be notified later.
Shirdi Baba pooja, Bhajans on Saturday
The Dhuni pooja and Bhajan Kirtan organised by the Bhagawan Sri
Sathya Sai Central Trust and Shri Vijay Mangai, Chairman of the Sri Sai
Prerna Trust, New Delhi will be held at the Sai Mandhir, Barnes Place,
Colombo 7, on April 14 at 5.30 am. The program schedule is as follows at
the Sai Mandhir, Colombo 7 from 5.30 am to 12.30 pm.
The leading Bhajan Singers and Gurus will conduct the Bhajan program.
The evening Bhajan program will be held at the Rama Krishna Mission Hall
from 5.00 pm to 9.30 pm, organised by the Sai Leila Times of Ghaziabad,
India.
Easter drama today
The Easter drama ‘Awasan Theenduwata Erehiwa’ will be staged today at
5.00 p.m. at the Calvary Centre-House of Prayer, Station Road, Kapuwatte,
Ja-Ela.
Wegapitiya, new President of J’pura Alumni

Laugfs Group Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya and poet and novelist
Buddhadasa Galappaththi were elected President and General Secretary of
the Sri Jayawardenapura University Alumni Association at its Annual
General Meeting at the Central Bank Training Centre, Rajagiriya.
The key positions of the Association had earlier been held by
Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena and Higher Education Minister S.
B. Dissanayaka. New President Wegapitiya said the Alumni Association has
a great responsibility to work for the betterment of the University and
its students.
“We should extend our cooperation to the student community,” he said
Bren Security hosts three-day meeting

Regional Managers Meeting for Securitas South-East Asia and the Middle
East and South Asia at the Jetwing 'Beach' hotel recently.
The Group CEO of Securitas Alf Goransson and Country Presidents from
both regions participated at this high profile three-day meeting
accompanied by delightful entertainment by Chandana Wickramasinghe dance
troupe and a BBQ dinner on the beach.
Lanka-Pakistan to enhance trade
Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Pakistan Jayalath Weerakkody has
said that Sri Lanka is eager to enhance trade relations with Pakistan.
He said the two countries are enjoying deep political relations and it
is the need of the hour to promote bilateral trade relations between the
two countries.
He was exchanging views with a delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), led by its President Jawed Akhtar
Bhatti at his office last week.
Jayalath said Pakistan and Sri Lanka are two major countries of the
region and mutual cooperation between them would benefit the region.
"Sri Lanka is keen to invest in Pakistan and the business community
of Pakistan must visit the Sri Lankan markets to further enhance
relations," he said.
Raban presentation
Thun Thumba Mal, a presentation by 120 raban players will be held at
7.00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Divisional Cultural Centre of the Alawwa
Divisional Secretariat, with the participation of Culture and Arts
Minister T. B. Ekanayake as chief guest. |
