The new Miss Sri Lanka Beauty Queen Vinu Udani Siriwardana will soon break into the film industry as an actress. She broke the good news when she visited the Sunday Observer last week.

It was a memorable day when Miss Sri Lanka 2012, Vinu Udani Siriwardana visited the Sunday Observer Editorial last week. She made the customary visit to Lake House as the reigning Miss Sunday Observer. She has already been offered the role of different characters in several films, but has accepted two as a steppingstone.

"I am very selective on the roles that are I am going to play. For the moment, I have given my consent to act in two films, including a Buddhist culture-based film," she said. Apart from winning the main Miss Sri Lanka 2012 title at the Derana-Veet Miss Sri Lanka 2012 beauty pageant, Siriwardena also won several other mini titles, including the coveted Miss Sunday Observer title for the Most Popular contestant.

She polled the highest number of votes in the popularity voting conducted by the Sunday Observer to win the Miss Sunday Observer `crown'.

Siriwardana was presented the cash award for Miss Sunday Observer 2012 by veteran media personality and ANCL Chairman/ Managing Director Bandula Padmakumara. Siriwardana, who has been selected to enter the university, is looking forward to doing a Degree in fashion designing to enliven her career.

She was taken around the Sunday Observer editorial to meet staffers and get a first-hand knowledge on the editorial operation. She will continue to carry forward her charity work, including her long-involvement with less-affluent children in the pre-school at Dharmaraja Viharaya, Karagampitiya, Dehiwela.

"It gives me so much happiness when I help those needy children. I will continue to extend my support to them in the future too," she said.

There were 14 mini pageants which took place during the three-month lead up to the event in April and the winners were announced at the grand finale at Blue Waters, Wadduwa.
