Thirty head of cattle to be rescued

Thirty head of cattle will be rescued from the abattoir at a ceremony to be held tomorrow (Poson Poya) at Sri Mayura Ashta Lakshmi Ashram, Kataragama, under the patronage of Presidential Secretary on Parliamentary Affairs, Kumarasiri Hettige. The event is organised by the Boralesgamuwa Astrological Centre.


Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia YMBA Abhaya Dana

The Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia YMBA will release over 25 heads of cattle for the 20th consecutive year tomorrow, Poson Full Moon Poya Day.

The YMBA has set up a “Fund For Cattle Release” at the Sampath Bank, Dehiwala branch for the Abhaya Dana.

The cattle will be placed under the care of dedicated farming families arranged through their Grama Niladharis, closely monitored by YMBA authorities.

The YMBA is looking for a suitable land on an extent of two to 10 acres to set up a farm.The YMBA appeals for donations to purchase a suitable land to rear the cattle.


‘Poson Bhakthi Gee Saraniya – 2012’ at Lyceum

The Poson devotional singing program, ‘Poson Bhakthi Gee Saraniya – 2012’ organised by the Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, in collaboration with Sri Sucharithawardana Dhamma School of Siri Dhammaramaya, Nugegoda will be held at the Siri Dhammaramaya on June 5 at 6.00 p.m.

The program will be held on the guidance of Chief incumbent of Siri Dhammaramaya Ven. Bogambara Rathnajothi Thera and Coordinating Principal Lyceum International Schools Mrs. Kumari Grero with the participation of pupils, parents, academic staff and the office staff of Sucharithawardana Dhamma School and the Lyceum International School.Music will be provided by eminent singer and music director Visharada Edward Jayakody and Mrs. Charitha Priyadarshani Peiris.


Cancer screening clinic on June 10

The Sri Lanka Cancer Society at Bullers Lane, Colombo 7 will hold its next cancer-screening clinic on June 10 from 8.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m, to screen for early detection of breast cervical and oral cancers.

All services will be free.
