Indo-Italian Chamber to enhance business ties with Italy

The "Sri Lanka - Italy business link will be strengthened in the years to come" said Secretary General of the Indo Italian Chamber, Sergio Sgambato at the luncheon meeting organised by the Sri Lanka - Italy Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently.

The meeting focused on import and export opportunities and challenges in the Italian market for Sri Lankan exporters and importers.

President of the Sri Lanka - Italy Business Council, Daya Raathnayake said that Sri Lanka were keen to improve ties with the Indo-Italian Chamber to have positive growth results in the near future with Italy. He said that the trade between Sri Lanka and Italy is on an increase over the past few years which has shown encouraging results to the businessmen trading with Italy. "This is a positive sign that Sri Lankan businessmen have included Italy as a country to have growing partnerships with and vice versa", Raathnayake said.

The Sri Lanka Italy Business Council was formed in October 1998, under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The Council focuses on 'promoting investment, trade and joint venture between Sri Lanka and Italy'.
