SLMC set to contest Eastern PC with UPFA
In a desperate attempt to secure political
leverage in the run-up to the Eastern Provincial Council polls, UPFA
ally, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) led by Justice Minister Rauff
Hakeem is now holding talks with the Government and the Tamil
National Alliance (TNA). The party has already held several rounds
of talks with the TNA and is in the process of drafting an MoU to be
presented to the Government at discussions next week.

Over 11,000 Grama Niladaris of 14,000 Grama Seva
Divisions will be given duty-free motorcycles and laptop computers
at concessionary rates under a scheme to be implemented by the

150,000 houses for slum dwellers
Over 150,000 houses will be constructed for
people living in under-served settlements in Colombo, said
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities
Minister Wimal Weerawansa. The slum and shanty settlement community
