Minister scotches Milco rumours

The recent rumours that Milco(Pvt) Ltd. will discontinue the purchase of milk from farmers is totally incorrect, untrue and malicious, Minister of Livestock and Rural Community Development Arumugan Thondaman said in a statement.

It will continue to purchase fresh milk delivered through farmer societies and directly by farmers, he said. These rumours followed the refusal of certain milk companies to purchase milk from farmers and farmer societies. Milco has 77 milk chilling centres to preserve milk and would continue to purchase milk from over 2,000 farmer societies in the country, he said.
