Sri Lanka's new Ambassador in Sweden Oshadhi Alahapperuma held a
round of talks with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt.
The discussion held in a cordial atmosphere, helped promote ties
between the two countries.
Alahapperuma impressed on the Swedish government about the massive
infrastructure launched to expedite Sri Lanka's development schemes and
strategies adopted by Sri Lanka under the leadership of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Alahapperuma expressed his deep appreciation for the generosity of
the Swedish nation towards Sri Lanka's development. Carl Bildt said that
he was impressed by the recent achievements in Sri Lanka and expressed a
desire to visit the country shortly.
The Swedish Foreign Minister said that Sri Lanka could emerge as a
modern state, and the LLRC commission's recommendation could contribute
towards it immensely.
Alahapperuma said that the Government had taken many steps to
implement the LLRC recommendations.
