Kandy Esala perahera from July 19

The Kandy Esala Perahara will commence on July 19 and conclude on the final night perahara on Aug. 01. The water-cutting ceremony will be held at Gatambe Mahaveli River on Aug. 02. Four Devala peraharas will be held from Aug. 19 to 22, the Kumbal Perehara from 23 to 27 and the Randoli perehara from 28 to August 01.

The Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara has issued instructions to officials to provide all the facilities for the devotees during the season.

A large number of pilgrims and sightseers are expected to throng the hill capital.

The threat of terrorism is no more but usual security arrangements will be in place this year too, Diyawadana Nilame said.
