Navy in smashing 35-8 win over Up Country Lions

Sri Lanka Navy Sports Club kept their unbeaten record intact with a smashing 35 points (five goals) to 8 (one try, one penalty) win over up country Lions SC in their Dialog 'A' Division League rugby match played at Walisara yesterday after leading 21-8 at 'Lemons'.

Up country Lions opened scoring through an unconverted try by winger Vishwanthara Jayasinghe. Navy snatched the lead when centre Sebaseno Cakaunlvaly scored a try which was converted by Dev Anand (Navy 7-5). Five minutes later centre Sebaseno Cakaunlvaly scored his second try and Dev Anand added the extra points for Navy to lead 14-5.

Up country Lions reduced the deficit through a penalty from Rajitha Sansoni but the sailors increased the lead through a try by winger Chula Susantha which was converted by Dev Anand and Navy led 21-3 at half time.

In the second half Navy scored tries through winger Dinusha Fernando and centre Ratu Taniela with Reza Mubarak converting both tries to make it 35-8 at the final whistle.
