Sports festival for u.12 boys and girls at Kurunegala

ATHLETICS: In a bid to popularise athletics among youngsters, the Ministry of Sports under their sports development program has organised a sports festival today (Sunday June 8) at the Welegedera Stadium, Kurunegala starting at 8 a.m.

This sports festival is confined to boys and girls of the ages of under-12 and includes event for the juniors like mini hurdles, long jump, netball throw, running for three minutes as an endurance test and a 25m relay.

The sports festival will be declared open by the Chief Minister of Wayamba Athula Wijesinghe and the closing ceremony will have Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardane as the chief guest. Almost all education zones in the island are expected to participate at this festival. 82 zones out of 95 will form 164 teams.
