Two Commandos die in road accident

A Lieutenant Colonel and a Corporal of the Commando Regiment died
while a Major sustained injuries when the Land Rover they were
travelling in crashed into an electricity tower along the Thabbowa Tank
in Karuwalagaswewa yesterday morning.
They were reportedly heading to the Ganemulla Commando Headquarters
from Kilinochchi when the vehicle had veered off the road and crashed.
Police said the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to
the excessive speed. The Defender was extensively damaged due to the
accident. The injured Major was admitted to the Puttalam Hospital in a
critical condition. |
