Police get tough against drunken drivers during Avurudu
The police will get tough with those who drive
under the influence of alcohol during the Sinhala and Tamil New
Year. The police has launched a special operation countrywide to
monitor and arrest drunken drivers. Officers of police traffic
branches have been given instructions on how to arrest drunken
drivers.

Gopi and two others killed during clash
Kajeepan Ponniah Selvanayagam alias Kasian alias
Gopi and two other LTTE supporters were shot dead during the early
hours of April 11 (Friday) when they attempted to flee the Army
cordon set up to capture them. All three were killed during the
confrontation.
