Devi Balika Colombo tops 2013 GCE(O/L) best performance index

Devi Balika Vidyalaya in Colombo has achieved the best GCE (O/L) results last year (2013) by scoring 84 in the best performance index of the department of examination. Principal Mrs. Pradeepa Samarasinghe said that this was the best results that has been obtained in 2013 by a school in Sri Lanka at this examination. All students who sat the examination had to perform well to get this, she said. The highest number that could be achieved in this index is 90.

Out of the 245 students who sat for the examination, 51% have obtained 9A's, 79% have obtained 8A's. Eighty three percent of the students have obtained 8A's and 9A's. Mrs. Samarasinghe said that none of the students failed the examination and the pass rate is 100%.

She said that 100% of the students have obtained A's for the mother tongue. The students have performed extremely well to achieve 100% pass rate in all subjects.
