Six arrested on abduction charge

Six young men who planned to abduct an unmarried woman ayurvedic
doctor who was to enter wedlock this week, were arrested by the Wadduwa
police.
According to the Wadduwa police, a young man from Gampaha who made
several attempts to befriend the young doctor by making amorous
overtures had failed to win her heart.
As it became a nuisance the lady doctor left the Gampaha area and
came to reside in Wadduwa. But when the young man came to know that she
was about to marry another man who is also an ayurvedic doctor the
following week he panicked.
The young man along with five others from Maharagama, Piliyandala and
the Wadduwa areas came to Wadduwa town in a three-wheeler and invited
the male ayurvedic doctor who was planning to marry the young woman to
meet them in the Wadduwa town.
But when the man arrived the young man who had an axe to grind with
him assaulted him. Later the victim lodged a complaint at the Wadduwa
police.
The six suspects S. Tharanga, M. Kumara Silva, D. Madusanka, D.
Kumaradasa, R. Prasunna and L. Sampath were produced before the Panadura
Magistrate Jagath A. Kahadagamage who remanded four suspects while
releasing two on bail till investigations are completed.
OIC Crimes Wadduwa Police Sub Inspector A. Viddanage is conducting
