Sri Lanka's Cinnamon industry has faced a new
challenge in our main markets as some buyers demand a new standard
on sulphur dioxide residue and experts fear that if solutions are
not found it will adversely affect the industry.

WB grants $ 32 m for infrastructure and houses in Puttalam
The World Bank provided a concessional loan of
US$ 32 million for infrastructure development and housing projects
in the Puttalam district. The loan agreement was signed on Friday by
WB country Director Ms. Naoko Ishii and Treasury Secretary Dr. P. B.
Jayasundera.

New Bill on electricity will protect consumers
The Sri Lanka Electricity Bill which will be
presented in Parliament shortly will empower the Public Utilities
Commission of Sri Lanka to regulate and monitor the performance and
expose corruption and malpractices of the Ceylon Electricity Board
and all affiliated institutions, PUCSL, Director General Prof.
Priyantha Wijetunga said.
