Power and Energy Authority to develop energy sector

The Power and Energy Authority will be launched tomorrow. The functions of the authority will include identifying natural sources of power and energy, guidance, promotion and development.

In addition the Authority will launch programs to develop small scale hydro projects, wind and solar power generation and bio gas production projects. A ministry spokesman said when gas is converted into electricity it won't costly and there would be less environmental pollution.

New power and energy sources will add 10 percent energy to the national grid.
