Tigers totter with depleted cadre

The LTTE is now a 'lame duck' with twenty five senior cadres in their so-called rank of Lt.Colonels killed by the Security Forces in the recent battles, according to the Army Commander Lt.Gen Sarath Fonseka, who opined that the days of the outfit are numbered.

Heroin smuggling operation busted at BIA

The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) sleuths busted another heroin smuggling operation when they took in for questioning three passengers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) attempting to smuggle three kilograms of heroin last Friday, PNB sources told the Sunday Observer.

Efforts to revive peace talks

Norwegian facilitators have started efforts to revive the peace talks between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE terrorists. Norwegian Minister Erik Solheim and special peace envoy Jon Hanssen Bauer discussed the peace moves with the Sri Lankan delegation on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
