Efforts to revive peace talks
Norwegian facilitators have started efforts to revive the peace talks
between the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE terrorists. Norwegian
Minister Erik Solheim and special peace envoy Jon Hanssen Bauer
discussed the peace moves with the Sri Lankan delegation on the
sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said that Colombo was ready to
resume talks with the LTTE but accused the rebels of failing to respond
to "genuine efforts" in the past to restore peace. |
