Colombo South International School in runaway win

BASKETBALL: Colombo South International School posted a comfortable 38 points to one victory over Wycherly International School in the quarter finals of the ongoing International Schools under 13 boys Basketball Tournament played at Colombo International School’s courts, Colombo.

The winners also dominated the half time scores by a massive margin by 28 points to nil. Lakshan Mendis with 14 points and F. Fahim with eight points stood out for Colombo South International School.

In another quarter final fixture Asian International School registered a 31 points to 11 victory over Royal Institute. The winners were ahead 22 points to two at the breather. Anuk Ganegoda with 13 points and Andy Ranasinghe with ten points did well for Asian International School.

Lyceum International School, Nugegoda trounced Elizabeth Moir International School by 33 points to seven to enter the semi finals after taking a 18 points to two lead at the short whistle. For Lyceum International School Azam Afzal with nine points and Ali Mohomed with six points were the top scorers.

Host school Colombo International cruised into the semi finals when they received a walk over from Stafford International School in the other quarter final. In the semi finals Colombo International School will take on Lyceum International School, Nugegoda while Asian International School will confront Colombo South International School.

The winners will meet in the final which is scheduled to be worked off on Tuesday (October 2) with the consolation final which also will be played on the same day.

In the earlier matches, AIS beat Lyceum, Wattala by 52 points to 12 after leading 13 points to two at the breather. Anuk (15) and Andy (13) were the best scorers for the winners while P. de Silva with seven was the top scorer for the losers, Colombo South International beat Elizabeth Moir by 18 points to ten with the best scoring coming from M. Lakshan who scored seven points, half time scores stood at ten points to two in favour of the winners.

Colombo International School beat Lyceum International School, Wattala by 77 points to nine, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda beat Wycherly International School by 45 points to five, Elizabeth Moir beat Alethea International School by 23 points to 22, Colombo South International School beat Alethea International by 23 points to 21, CIS beat AIS by 55 points to 28.
