Milinda Siriwardena(5/87) restricts SSC to 326

CRICKET: Milinda Siriwardena captured five wickets for 87 as Chilaw Marians SC restricted SSC to 326 runs in their first innings on the second day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament final continued at the SSC grounds, Maitland Place yesterday.

However SSC look set to clinch the title having already collected first innings points. They were well set to build up a massive first innings lead after having bowled out the opposition for just 123 runs.

In fact SSC were well placed at 171 for 3 on the second day after their openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Nuwan Perera had put on 90 runs.

But the SSC middle order failed to consolidate their position and lost their last seven wickets for the addition of 155 runs.

Kaushal Silva completed a solid half century but the rest of the batting collapsed against the spin of Milinda Siriwardena. Chilaw Marians SC reached 102 for 3 in their second innings still trailing by 101 runs.

Chilaw Marians SC: 123 and 102 for 3 (A. Athulathmudali 34, R. Fernandopulle 24 n.o, P. Jansz 20, I. Perera 10).

SSC: 326 (K. Silva 71, D. Randika 27, J. Sriyapala 21, M. Siriwardena 5 for 87, I. Perera 2 for 65).
