Pubudu wins triple crown for second consecutive year
BADMINTON: Pubudu Wanigasekera of Lake House won the coveted triple
crown for the second consecutive year at the Nationalised Services Open
Badminton Championships at the S. Thomas College Indoor Stadium, Mount
Lavinia recently.

Pubudu won the Women's Singles title defeating W. G. Liyanage of Bank
of Ceylon in straight sets (21-17, 21-8).
She then won the women's doubles title with Tharalika Livera of TRC
in straight sets (21-14, 21-16) over W. G. Liyanage of Bank of Ceylon
and M. N. U. Bandara of NWSDB.
She also won the Mixed Doubles title with Dilan Yasantha of the
Petroleum Corporation also in straight sets (21-11, 21-16) over Chamila
Kurupanawala and Indika Vibushana of the Ports Authority.
Dilan Yasantha won a "double". After winning the Mixed Doubles he won
the men's singles title too beating Chamila Kurupanawala of Ports
Authority in a three setter (19-21, 21-10, 21-16).
Pubudu Wanigasekera of Lake House also won the Women's Veteran's
singles beating W. G. Liyanage of Bank of Ceylon in a three setter
(6-21, 21-14, 21-17), while Deepal Madurapperuma of Petroleum
Corporation won the men's voteran's singles title in straight sets
(21-19, 21-7) over J. A. S. Perera of NWSDB.
The men's veteran's doubles title was won by T. A. S. Perera of NWSDB
and W. S. Jayanthasiri (SLTB) in straight sets (21-18, 21-15) over
Damitha Leelaratne and Udaya Perera of People's Bank, while Bank of
Ceylon's W. G. Liyanage and TRC's Tharalika Livera won the women's
veteran's doubles in straight sets (21-18, 21-10) over M. N. U. Bandara
and R. S. K. Liyanaaratchi of NWSDB.
A. G. S. Dayaratne of Bank of Ceylon won the masters singles in
straight sets (21-14, 21-16) over Udaya Perera of People's Bank, while
the masters doubles was won by P. S. K. Senanayake of Petroleum
Corporation and CTB's W. S. Jayanthasiri over Udaya Perera and Sunil
Perera of People's Bank in straight sets (21-12, 21-15).
Dinusha Dammika of Lake House won the men's plate beating Theja
Perera of National Savings Bank in a three setter (8-21, 23-21, 21-11),
while R. S. K. Liyanaaratchi of NWSDB won the women's plate event over
SLT's Uresha Soysa (23-21, 22-20).
