Piliyandala Factory Complex Champs

SPORTS FESTIVAL: Singer Sri Lanka Piliyandala Factory Complex emerged overall champions, collecting 100 points while SSL Marketing division were runners-up with 61 points and Regnis Lanka Limited were third with 41 points at the Singer Group Sports Festival held at Shalika grounds, Narahenpita.

In the first event - marathon, I.A.R.R. Mangala of Piliyandala Factory Complex was the winner with Gayan Kelum of Singer Sri Lanka placed second and K.M. Dissanayake of Singer Sri Lanka third.

K. Hewagamage of Singer Industries (Ceylon) Limited won the cycle race. Nishantha Kumara of Piliyandala Factory Complex and Duninda Wijesuriya of Distribution Centre were placed second and third respectively.

Over 200 athletes, both men and women participated in 23 track and field events. S.D.H.T. Silva of Regnis Lanka Limited was adjudged best among men while Ms. Shanadee Manushani of Singer, Sri Lanka was selected as the best athlete among the women.

Veterans' event which was one of the interesting events at the sports festival-50 metre sprint, was won by evergreen Anton Silva of Singer Industries.

Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chairman, Singer Group of companies and Mrs. Anoma Amarasuriya distributed the prizes.
