No hike in gas prices - CAA chairman

The Consumer Affairs Authority has not approved any price revision on gas and would prosecute errant traders who try to fleece consumers during the festive season. Chairman CAA, Sarath Wijesinghe said that stern measures have been taken against agents who had increased the price of a shell gas cylinder without CAA approval.

Flying squads to nab errant traders

The Consumer Protection Authority has set up flying squads to crackdown on errant private traders who sell essential commodity items at exorbitant prices. The decision was taken by the CPA following numerous complaints by the public over the selling of essential consumer items by certain private traders above the usual prices.

LTTE kills seven including women and boy in Vavuniya

Seven civilians including a boy and six women were killed by the LTTE at Awaranthalawa, 13 kilometers off Vavuniya yesterday. Several other residents in the village were also injured when the Tigers randomly shot at a crowd in the village, the Media Centre for National Security said.

LAUGFS to enter Australian auto market with A $ 2 m investment

LAUGFS Gas Company, a pioneer auto gas converting company in Sri Lanka will enter the Australian Auto market with an investment of Australian $ two million. The first Sri Lankan team of Auto gas convertion services left for Australia on Monday and they expect to commence operations in Australia by the end of this month.
