Royal retain Gunaratne Trophy with 22-18 win
Inspired by a fine forwards display, Royal pulled
off a close 22 points (2 tries, 4 penalties) to 18 (3 tries, 1
penalty) win over traditional rivals S. Thomas' to retain the
Michael Gunaratne trophy for the second successive year in their
school rugger match played at Longden Place yesterday.

CR remain unbeaten with hard fought win over CH
CR & FC continues to remain unbeaten in the
current Caltex 'A' Division League Rugby Championship. Yesterday,
they beat CH & FC, who lost their first game this season, by 19
points (1 goal, 4 penalties) to 13 (1 goal 2 penalties) after
leading 6-3 at half time. Kandy Sports Club (the defending
champions) are the other unbeaten side and their crunch game with
the Red Shirts will be at Longden Place on July 1.
