The country’s economic growth will take a
three-fold approach - increasing productivity, exporting more and
import substitution. The 2013 Budget has provided an ideal platform

‘Lanka’s growth rate commendable’
There is a lot more for Sri Lanka to do, if it
is to achieve a better economic growth rate, IMF Resident Mission
Head, Dr. Koshy Mathai said at the Golbal Commerce Excellence
Awards. He said that Sri Lanka's Foreign Direct Investments are yet
low, at around one percent of the GDP when it could be around five
to six percent of the GDP as Vietnam.

$ 40 m luxury high rise
Platinum 1, a high-rise for residential and
commercial purposes, will be ready by the end of 2013. The $ 40 m
investment is a joint venture between Platinum Realty Investment
(Pvt) Ltd and Indian-based Paharpur Cooling Towers Group and
Mauritius-based private equity fund Pragnya Fund. Located in
Bagatale Road, Colombo, it is 140,000 square feet and will comprise
four luxury penthouses and 66 aesthetically appointed residential

SLSI to launch certification programs
The Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) will
launch several certification programs to enhance service standards
and quality of products in the public and private sector
organisations, SLSI Director General Dr. Lalith Senaweera said. He
