Boost for sports tourism: Sri Lanka plans to promote sports tourism with emphasis on water sports in the East coast and indoor sports in Colombo. The Sports Ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism to develop the Kalpitiya tourism zone and hold regular sports events for tourists in Arugam Bay and Passikudah which are preferred locations for water-based tourism. “The government of Slovenia is keen promote indoor sports in Sri Lanka by setting up a water sports complex in the country. We will work with such countries to develop sports that will help attract tourists to the country”, Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekera said. Meanwhile the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in collaboration with the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (affiliated to the International Sailing Federation) is organizing the Asian and Oceania Optimist Championship 2016 Tournament at the beach-front of Trinco Blu by Cinnamon from May 29 to June 4. AIA Sri Lanka GWP grows 31% in Q1 2016

Gross Written Premium (GWP) of AIA Insurance Lanka PLC grew by 31 percent to Rs. 2,372 million for the three months ended March 31, 2016. The outstanding growth was supported by a strong increase in premium persistency and a change in premium mode mix which recorded an increase in annual premium collection.
