With five days to go for World Environmental Day, June 5, activists of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) dressed up as animals staged a protest against the United Nations conference on biodiversity on Friday in Bonn, Western Germany. Germany pledged half a billion euros (US $ 785 million) to help defend threatened forests and called upon others to join its effort as a UN conference on biodiversity engaged top gear. AFP


APRC to include TMVP

JHU, MEP to continue with proceedings:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has responded positively to the inclusion of the TMVP to the APRC. With this new development the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna and the Jathika Hela Urumaya, the parties which insisted on the participation of the TMVP at the APRC have withdrawn their boycott and decided to continue with the APRC proceedings from this week,
