Businessmen mull investments in Lanka
Businessmen attending the Commonwealth Heads of
Government Meeting (CHOGM) have shown a keen interest in enhancing
trade and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka which they said has
a conducive environment for business. CHOGM side events will be
launched today in Hambantota. Delegates from Commonwealth and non
Commonwealth countries have shown an interest in setting up
business, joint ventures and promoting bilateral trade.
Dialog to transform business with digital services
Dialog Axiata PLC scored another first with the
launch of digital services to transform the banking, financial and
insurance sector last week in Colombo. Dialog Group, Chief Executive
Officer, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya said that in a rapidly growing
digital world, telecommunications service providers have a huge role
to play in catering to the real needs of consumers who look for
smart ways of transacting business.
'Protecting IP rights, a challenge'
In the digital world protecting intellectual
properties is a challenge and the major task of the World
Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) is creating a legal,
seamless, global, direct marketplace, Director General of WIPO, Dr.
Francis Gurry told the media in Colombo concluding his three-day
visit to Sri Lanka.
First three-star apartment complex in Jaffna
The first three star, apartment style, hotel
complex will be built in Jaffna next year. The Rs. 750 million
project to be built by Global Towers, Colombo which also owns and
operates a similar hotel with apartments and rooms in Wellawatta.
